Zeolite 4A:
- is a synthetic zeolite, activated by a thermal process in order to remove water
of crystallisation.
- is an inorganic product based on Na and aluminosilicate having a very high porosity.
This porous structure allows the material to absorb volatile molecules with low molecular weight
that frequently generate bad odours during the extrusion of the compounds.
These odour producing molecules have a low molecular weight and can also modify
the organoleptic properties of the substancees that comes in contact with plastics
(for example water).
It is therefore very important to remove them from the plastics using, for example, with zeolites.
Typical addition level is 2-3%.
