Methyltetrahydrophthalic anhydride (MTHPA-EG) is a versatile low cost liquid anhydride hardener. MTHPA-EG/8K is one of several pre-catalysed versions of MTHPA-EG. It contains a proprietary catalyst that reduces cure time and boots glass transition temperature (Tg). With proper cure clycles a Tg value of 140°C can be achieved. This product is specially formulated to remain liquid during the winter season (typical pour point: -20°C to - 15°C). It provides unique characteristics to epoxy cured materials such as high voltage and temperature resistance.

It finds use in the coating of wind mill blades and in reinforced plastics, filament winding products, construction and sport equipment, laminated sheets as well as in the production of electrical parts such as capacitors, resistors, transformers, ignition coils.

Specific applications include filament winding, adhesive, potting, casting, encapsulation and vacuum impregnation.
